Please read the section rules before entering. The time limit for each class is 5 minutes unless stated otherwise in the class description.

Class 11 — Piano Solo Classical Own Selection (11 and 12 years)

Fee $15

Classical is taken to mean Composers before Schubert.

Class 12 — Piano Solo Romantic Or Modern Own Selection (11 and 12 years)

Fee $15

Romantic or Modern is taken to mean works by 
Composers from Schubert onwards.

Class 13 — Piano Solo Sight Reading (11 and 12 years)

Fee $15

Class 14 — Piano Solo Classical Own Selection (13 and 14 years)

Fee $15

Classical is taken to mean Composers before Schubert.

Class 15 — Piano Solo Romantic Or Modern Own Selection (13 and 14 years)

Fee $15

Romantic or Modern is taken to mean works by 
Composers from Schubert onwards.

Class 16 — Piano Solo Sight Reading (13 and 14 years)

Fee $15

Class 17 — Piano Solos Classical Own Selection (15 and older)

Fee $15

Class 18 — Piano Solos Romantic or Modern Own Selection (15 and older)

Fee $15

Romantic or Modern is taken to mean works by Composers from Schubert onwards.

Class 19 — Piano Solo Sight Reading (15 and older)

Fee $15

Class 21 — Piano Solo NZ Composer (11 to 17 years)

Fee $15

Class 23 — Piano Solo Own Selection J.S. Bach (11 to 16 years)

Fee $15

Any keyboard work composed by J. S. Bach.
Arrangements are not acceptable

Class 24 — Piano Duet Own Selection, One Piece Only (open)

Fee $15

Competitors may only play in one item in each class.

Make only 1 entry per team/group.

Class 24c — Piano Double Duo (2 Pianos,8 Hands) Own Selection (open)

Fee $16

Competitors may only play in one item in each class. 

Make only 1 entry per team/group.

Class 25 — Piano Concerto (11 to 17 years)

Fee $20

Competitors must also enter and play in at least one other Class.

Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 19 1st mvt and cadenza only

The second Piano (Orchestral Part) will not be judged and may be played
by a Teacher. Three finalists will be chosen and will perform with the
Devonport Chamber Orchestra on 
Sunday 06 June 2027 at 2:30pm at Takapuna Pumphouse

The finalists will have the opportunity to rehearse with the Orchestra.

Class 26 — Piano Scholarship (Junior) (11 and 12 years)

Fee $20

To enter a Scholarship class, competitor must enter classes 11, 12 and 13
along with Class 26

Class 27 — Piano Scholarship (Intermediate) (13 and 14 years)

Fee $20

To enter a Scholarship class, competitors must enter classes 14, 15 and 16
along with Class 27

Class 28 — Piano Scholarship (Senior) (15 and older)

Fee $20

To enter a Scholarship class, competitors must enter classes 17, 18 and 19
along with Class 28

Class 32 — Piano Sonata Recital (14 and older)

Fee $25 · Sponsored by Mr & Mrs I Knight (1st and 2nd prizes), Brian Sayer (3rd prize)

Competitors must also enter and play in at least one other class.

Competitors to play the first movement only in the first session,
but must be prepared to play more if requested by the Adjudicator.

Recalls will play the whole Sonata on the Final night.

The winner to receive the N.Z. School of Music Cup and $1000 donated by 
Mr & Mrs I Knight
The second prize is $400 donated by Mr & Mrs I Knight
and the third prize is $150 donated by Brian Sayer
